A very dear friend and a long time pillar of the MSTBC-UK (Mabuhay Strikers Tenpin Bowling Club) Rosario ‘Chit’ Afuang who tirelessly pioneered tourism to the Philippines for at least her last 30 years here in the UK, under the banner of the Department of Tourism was laid to rest in Ungka, Iloilo City, Philippines.

To preserve her memory, after a memorial mass on Saturday – 18th January at Our Lady of Dolours Servite Catholic Church -Fulham Road, the MSTBC (aka ‘Mabuhay Strikers’) organized & held the ‘Chit Afuang Memorial Bowl’ on Sunday.

19th January ‘20 at their home bowl-centre Airport Bowl – Heathrow to kick start their 26th season 2020 that they envisage now to be an annual event. With very little time to prepare and without any prompting , commemorative trophies for the event were donated by Espinosa’s Best (c/o Rey Espinosa) and Linda & Gordon Geraldo. As it was an unprecedented bowl event, with a limited 16 lane allocation from the bowl centre and at an earlier start time of 9 am on that cold winter Sunday, only a little less that 50 bowlers (3rd photo) were able to participate but it still proved to be a gruelling 6 game high scoring series contest with all the proceeds from the games and even the intended prize money for the 3 winners were all donated to the Afuang family.
