The Batangas Association UK celebrated its 26th anniversary with a dinner and dance at The Montcalm London Marble Arch Hotel on the 12th of October. A well-attended formal event, the guest of honour was Consul General Senen T Mangalile, who came with his wife, Fe. Representing Ambassador Antonio Lagdameo, the Consul General delivered a keynote speech on the UK Filipino community, which had the audience enthralled.
After opening with the British and Philippine National Anthems, the program opened with prayers led by Vice Governor Corazon Santos of Alitagtag. Association president, Adele Villar of Padre Garcia gave the welcome address and the keynote message of the Consul General.
Mood and music were provided by one of the top showbands in the Philippines, Arpie and the Multivitamins, which is made up of Tawag Ng Tanghalan finalist – Julius Cawaling, Ahn Camacho, Maria Andrade, and bandleader – Arpie Patriarca. After dinner, entertainment was a tango exhibition by Linda Celestial and Mel Pingcas, and this was quickly followed with the band switching from mood to dance music, which got the crowd to its feet.
Emcees for the evening were Rhona Fortunado and Arpie Patriarca. The 2018-20 officers of the association are Adele Villar, President; Tony Sevilla, Vice President; Julie Villanueva, Secretary; Rhona Fortunado, Treasurer; Leezette Hosmillo, Assistant Treasurer; Evelyn Amazona, Assistant Treasurer; and Committee Members – Villamor Andres, Marlon Balba, Chloe Masilungan, Angela Mendoza, Rosalie Rocello, and Dina Trinidad.
