This month of August, Yes! Philippines UK is proud to bring to everyone’s attention the projects and actions of our fellow Filipinos that have the well-being of others in mind.
Compassion has always been a Filipino trait that we can be proud of. Our cover for this month features the Filipino Women’s Association-UK (FWA-UK), a group of women doing as much as they can to help save lives. In the heat of summer, they geared themselves to run in the UK Race for Life to help fund the fight against cancer through research.
This month’s issue also has an article tackling the issue of workers’ rights. We also talked about Prime Minister Borris Johnson’s stand on immigration and what his plans are for the future. As one of the very many of Filipinos who are working overseas, I truly appreciate Ambassador Lagdameo’s initiative in raising the issue of the importance of workers’ rights in an international forum.
On a lighter note, we will also have articles featuring RoniB’s Kitchen at the Great Taste Awards, the 9 PH Films in the London LGBTQ Film festival, and the Igorot House & Granary that has made its way home after a journey in the UK. Also, don’t forget to go through Yes! Philippines UK’s Barrio Fiesta adventures last July through our photo spread.
