Miss Transbeauty 2019 (A Pageant with a Story and a Heart)
Miss TransBeauty 2019 is originally named “Miss Transformation” and was conceptualised in late 2016. It was briefly advertised after Starvision’s Mister and Miss Body Beautiful in 2017. However, it did not materialise due to several challenges.
It was only this year, that it finally came out. This pageant is to bring transwomen/ people together who are facing similar issues and be able to share their experiences; to bring awareness and better understanding on the lives and challenges a trans-women/ gender has to face; to give the trans-women/genders voices to express themselves without being judged and to promote equality to transpeople by recognising their values as citizens of the society.
The Miss TransBeauty 2019 has successfully concluded last July 27, 2019 at Baden Powell South Kensington. Akiko Obillo had succeeded in bringing the crown home, as the first Miss TransBeauty 2019. Also, she bagged most of the minor and special awards such as Best in Casual Wear, Best in Swimwear, Best in Evening Gown, Princess of the Crowd and Best in Talent. Meanwhile, Cassandra Concepcion bagged the First Runner Up plus minor and special awards, Miss Elegance and Best in Fantasy Wear . Lastly, Paw Cadalzo who won as the Miss TB-Online Sensation with 16,000 votes and the Face of Starvision landed as the Second Runner Up.
Candidate Maria Ara was voted by her co-candidates as Miss Congeniality. Consolation prizes were given to Mikaella Ferreira, Kloey Gonzales and Elys Matillano. On the other hand, local artists, Nikki Dela Fuente, Kate Malabanan, Janice Suarez, Jahna Lucero, Dave Cabuso, Acoustic Live and A’GEM entertained the audience by rendering their their songs and dances.
Congratulations to all the winners and to StarVision Events for pulling this pageant off despite of the challenges that came along the way. Ela Hidalgo, Founder of Starvision and the over-all organiser with Joker Diva – Randy Silverio, Choreographer /Creative Director created a very prestigious pageant with high calibre judges, Model/Actor Steven St. Catherine, Miss Africa Director Dele Onabowu, Miss Paragon International Emma Jay Baker, Miss Africa Leila Samati, London Runway Magazine Editor in Chief, Rihannon ‘D Avec and the GMA Actress /Singer, Glaiza De Castro.
